party in the computer lab

i said farewell to Panauti and the school i was teaching at. it's been a really good experience and they treated me like a king. i'll never forget it.

the going away party consisted of five teachers, plus me, in the school's computer lab (which had four computers in it, none worked), they fried some fish and chicken and we drank whiskey and cokes. the drinks helped loosen everyone up a bit and the party really got going when they pulled out the drum and started singing which eventually led to dancing. it was hilarious and fun and more than i could have asked for from people i'd only met three weeks ago. i only wish my camera hadn't died early on in the party.

ah, the staff lounge. many good memories here. the best was the 8 year old that dislocated his pointer finger at the knuckle. i sat and watched as teachers tried to talk him into correcting the displacement on his own and were a little disgusted when he didn't have the guts to do it himself. good times.
Bishnu Sir and i. Bishnu leads the English department and was the guy i tagged along with most of the time. he knows grammar better than i do. i also taught most of his classes for him for three weeks. you're welcome Bishnu.

tell me this isn't the best music album cover you've ever seen. look at that posse! watch out ladies.  i'm struggling for a band name to do us justice. the best that comes to mind is from a co-ed volleyball team i play on back home that doubles quite well for a band name, "Unprotected Sets". sorry grandma and the rest of my family that i just embarrassed/ashamed. but seriously, i think that name fits.

friends from WDCW, the agency i used to work at. feel free to take this and work your magic. i think the traffic whiteboard game would even be a good option.
our front man and school founder. this guy had some pipes on him. he needs a stage name.

krishna, the good looking one in the band.

krishna's also the cook. the computer lab also has two gas stoves in it. what respectable school doesn't have gas stoves in their computer lab!

prepping the fish. these are actually post-prepped fish. from here, it was a little seasoning and straight into the fryer. we ate the whole fish, skin, tail, heads, eyes and all.
party!

not only is he the lead singer, he also throws down some tasty beats. he's also a great accounting teacher.

the farewell ceremony with the students wasn't nearly as entertaining...

but they did break out the red linens

they awarded me a letter of recommendation and a little golden buddha to keep me safe on my travels.

if you ever make it out to Nepal, i know some great people you can meet...

  1. More like "Unprotected Pockets"! You and your band mates need to be more careful, all bare pockets and all. Nepal has made you reckless.
